Last year, 22-time Emmy award-winning reporter John Stofflet posted this news video he created for KING-TV in 2004, featuring Paul Smith and his artistic talents.

look at all these white men
luke pasqualino is not white
the guy with keifer sutherland, ahmad alhendawi, the UN secretary envoy for youth, is not white
can we not completely erase people of color when they’re present in things
a dystopia where in order to have some semblance of decent human rights you have to fit into a set of specific criteria based on things such as race, gender, sexuality, and income, the ideal combination of which is met only by a small portion of society oh wait
So here’s my advice: Study broadly and without fear. Learn a language if you can, because that will make your life more interesting. Read a little bit every day. But more importantly, surround yourself with people who you like and make cool stuff with them. In the end, what you do isn’t going to be nearly as interesting or important as who you do it with.
So last night my mum wouldn’t let me have any sweets because she said they were all for the trick or treaters so i put this mask on and went out the back door and went around to the front and said trick or treat and she didn’t recognize me and she said “since i don’t think we’ll be getting any more tonight you can the rest of this bag my daughter will have them otherwise” and then i went back ini love myself
This video is really important.
I know Shane Dawson gets a lot of hate for his videos, which have in the past been very offensive. Nothing can excuse that.
BUT this is the type of shit I think a lot of us have been waiting for from a lot of different youtubers.
Here is shane taking accountability, understanding what he did is wrong, trying to fix his ignorance, deleting the offensive videos off his channel, and educating his quite young audience. This is what I think an apology should look like.
He doesn’t try to defend himself, or explain how his videos were okay. He understands how he is wrong, and does the best he can with the situation how it is now.
I know there is still stuff he has done wrong, but this is such a positive step, and the youtube community should recognize the attempt to reconcile.
At least that’s how I see it.
